Acupunture Services
Restoring Health & Wellness
Services We Offer
Thrive Acupuncture Edmonton iscommitted to helping our clients achieve optimal health through various Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) modalities. The treatments we offer are safe, effective, and a valuable addition to any wellness routine.
Our acupuncture services are tailored to each individual’s specific health concerns. We work with you to determine the best course of personalized treatment to meet your specific needs. Some of these treatments may include:
Traditional Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves the use of thin needles to stimulate specific points on the body. This is based on the principle that the body’s energy, or Qi, flows through channels or meridians, and that blockages in these channels can cause illness or pain. By stimulating these points with needles, acupuncture aims to restore the flow of Qi and promote healing and well-being.
Electro-Acupuncture
Electro-Acupuncture is a modern form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that uses a small electrical current to enhance the effects of traditional acupuncture. The current is applied to the needles, creating a stronger stimulation of the acupuncture points. This therapy is often used to treat pain, especially chronic pain that has not responded to other treatments.
Guasha
Guasha is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves the use of a smooth tool to scrape the skin and promote blood flow. The scraping motion helps release tension in the muscles, improve circulation, and promote healing.
Cupping
Cupping is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that involves placing special cups on specific points on the body, creating suction, and drawing the skin and muscle tissue into the cup. This therapy helps relieve muscle tension and promotes healing.
Moxibustion
Moxibustion is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is often used in conjunction with acupuncture to enhance its therapeutic effects. The heat produced by the burning moxa helps stimulate blood flow, enhance the body’s immune response, and promote the flow of Qi, the body’s vital energy.
Herbal Medicine
Herbal medicine is a form of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) that is often used in conjunction with acupuncture or cupping. This involves using natural substances, such as roots, leaves, and flowers, to promote healing and restore balance in the body. Herbal remedies are prescribed based on each individual’s unique constitution and health needs.
Nutritional Therapy
Nutritional therapy is a holistic approach to health and wellness that emphasizes the importance of a balanced and nutrient-dense diet in preventing and treating various health conditions. A comprehensive assessment identifies nutrient imbalances, dietary deficiencies, and food sensitivities. Nutritional therapy aims to address the root cause of health issues by developing personalized dietary plans that incorporate whole, natural, and nutrient-rich foods to support optimal health and well-being. It also emphasizes the importance of a healthy lifestyle and can include recommendations for stress management, exercise, and other lifestyle modifications to support overall health.

What To Expect On Your First Visit
New Acupuncture Patients
If you’re a new patient of Thrive Acupuncture Edmonton, below is a list of steps of what to expect for your first visit. Your initial appointment is typically 1 hour. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us.

01//
Book Appointment
–
The first step is to book an appointment with Thrive Acupuncture. You can do this by visiting our booking page and finding a date a time that works best for you. This will require a valid credit card. We also provide the option for you to book by email or phone.

02//
Intake & Health Assessment
–
During your first appointment, we will conduct a thorough health assessment. This includes a discussion of your medical history, current health concerns, lifestyle habits, and any medications or supplements you are currently taking. This is also when we discuss your health goals and what you hope to achieve. We may also check your pulse and look at your tongue, which are important diagnostic tools in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).

03//
Tailored Treatment
–
Based on your assessment and health goals, we will determine the best treatment for your needs. You will then be asked to undress and lay on the treatment bed. Please bring a pair of shorts and a tank top (if applicable) with you to your appointment. Acupuncture needles are then inserted, after which you will rest for 20- 30 minutes with them in. Depending on your main health concerns, other Traditional Chinese Medicin (TCM) modalities such as Cupping or Guasha may be used.

04//
Follow-Up Care
–
After your initial treatment, we recommend allowing sufficient time for your body to heal. We will also provide lifestyle recommendations such as dietary changes or stress reduction techniques to help support your health goals. Acupuncture is a cumulative therapy, so regular treatments can provide long-term benefits for your overall health and wellness. Though it varies depending on the individual, you should see positive changes after the first 3 sessions, and more lasting changes in 6 – 10 sessions.
